For us at United Way GBACC, MLK Day isn't just a regular holiday. It is a day to give back to the community through service. This MLK Day, we invite volunteers to come participate in two projects we will be holding at our office.
Our first project will be supporting our homeless outreach efforts by building out bags filled with supplies and other goodies that homeless individuals might need during this time of the year. This includes snacks, warm clothing, hygiene items, etc. Volunteers will also get the opportunity to deliver these packages to local service providers who interact with homeless individuals on a daily basis.
Our second project will be supporting our Baytown and Chambers County Little Free Library Initiative. United Way GBACC operates and tracks 22 Little Free Libraries in Baytown and Chambers County, and one thing these libraries need a lot of is books! Volunteers will be asked to organize our stock of donated books as well as distribute them to a few of the libraries in our community.
Please note that we will need several volunteers who are able to drive to the drop off locations at the conclusion of the opportunity. Wear closed toed shoes and be at the United Way offices ready to serve at 11:00am on Monday, January 16th.
