Join us for a couple of hours as we prepare three 12x12 foot vegetable garden beds for the planting of seedling that will be planted om April 7th.
This will be removing old dirt from the beds, lining them with weed barrier cloth and adding the new dirt. The garden will be used throughout this year to teach Baytown households about growing your own food. Many families that may choose not to buy fresh fruits & vegetables because of the cost. We want to help them & you! learn how to supplement a diet with healthier foods, and also learn how to get some stress relief by tending a garden.
You will also learn how to mix a recipe of one of the best vegetable seedling starter soils to ensure the seeds success. We will provide you with a copy of the recipe to take home, use and share. Before you leave you will learn about more modern ways of watering seedlings in a greenhouse and you may find that you will want to come back more often to help with this ongoing project!
