Are you a person who likes to build, square level for the best results?
Are you especially good at assembling Ikea Furniture or Leggos :-)
We are installing a 6'x8' greenhouse for our pilot garden at Fred Aguilar Promise Center, as part of our new neighborhood gardens program Seeds of Promise.
This volunteer event is to assemble a 6 x 8' greenhouse kit that has over 300 pieces with picture assembly instructions. The frame of the greenhouse will be aluminum with polycarbonate clear panels. The wood base will be constructed the day before this assembly. You can sign up for both days if you would like to see the project from beginning to end.
This project is for those who have some form of experience assembling or building somewhat complex items or structures. Patience and reading instructions are probably good skills to have also. Most of all we want to have fun building a greenhouse that Baytown community members will enjoy as they learn about growing fruits & vegetables so that they can grow their own for their family. This program is an initiative to address food disparities in our community.
We will make every effort to have the right tools on hand, but volunteers tools may be helpful. We ask that you bring your own gloves. Any volunteer who would like to discuss details prior to the work day can email our neighborhood garden coordinator, Valerie Adame at baytownourpromise@gmail.com
