A hotline specialist volunteer will assist in answering the phone lines for those survivors as well as agency business calls. These special individuals will be trained to answer crisis calls and handle them according to the clients needs. We will equip you with the tools necessary to screen calls in a conversation style rather than a checklist form, give out resources whether within our organization or outside, transfer calls to the proper department amongst other things to properly handle this particular population of people. A hotline specialist must be patient, empathetic, poses good communication skills, and most importantly be an effective and active listener. Volunteer: Licensed Medical Professional: Gift your skills as a nurse or EMT to help those impacted by disasters (both large and small).

Disaster Health Services (DHS) Service Associate (SA) is a temporary position assigned to work in person before, during and/or after a disaster event this hurricane/wildfire season. Volunteers in this role provide assistance and healthcare to shelter residents as needed.

Key Responsibilities  Provide hands on care for shelter clients to include but not limited to assistance with activities of daily living, wound care, incontinence care, assistance with functional needs. Provide health education, health assessments and determination if a higher level of care is needed. Assist clients to replace medications, durable medical equipment or consumable medical supplies. Advocate for client needs with Disaster Health Services supervisor. Support maternal and child needs as necessary. Complete required virtual self-paced and instructor-led training required for the position. Time Commitment:

Hours vary depending on meetings, training sessions, and/or responses at the local chapter.

Active and unencumbered licensure in at least one of the following:

Volunteer: Collect damage information for the Red Cross after large scale disasters

A Disaster Assessment Service Associate conducts field collection of damage assessment information and conducts damage assessment review and interpretation for Individual Assistance Providers (IAPs). This includes the collection and recording of impact and damage data and supporting Recovery Services with data interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

Gather impact assessment information. Define areas of known damage by field assessments for the area assessment. Conduct Detailed Damage Assessments (DDA) in the field. Support data entry of damage assessment information into systems of record as directed.

Qualifications:

Ability to follow assessment procedures Ability to collect data Ability to enter data into systems of record (CAS2.0, DSARS) Ability to utilize online technology (internet) to gather assessment data Conducts phone surveys to gather impact and preliminary damage assessment information. Ability to collect detailed damage assessment data and utilize the RC Collect mobile app Ability to effectively read and interpret maps

Time Commitment: 

Regional responses: Shift work determined by the scale of the relief operation; a minimum requirement of 8-12 hours per day during the disaster relief operation for multiple, consecutive days.

Time of Delivery:        Before 4 pm, dinner is served at 5 pm Beverages:                   Tea, Lemonade, and Milk Supplies:                      Paper plates, napkins, cups, and plastic utensils Condiments:               Mayonnaise, Mustard, Ketchup, Salad Dressing, Tarter Sauce, Cocktail Sauce Dessert is optional.

Volunteer: Five (5) New Logistics Supply Volunteers Needed!

The Logistics Supply activity on a disaster relief operation receives, decides sourcing, fills, and delivers orders for supplies from Disaster Relief Operation (DRO) groups and activities. 

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and expectations include but are not limited to:

Receive, track, fill and deliver supply orders within time allotted standards in the Supply Standards and Procedures. Record, view and obtain order status electronically. Provide good customer service. Complete reconciliation and order fulfillment as required.

Qualifications

Required:

Willingness to comply with Red Cross COVID-19 policies for in-person volunteer activities. Comfortable working independently and as a part of a team Comfortable working behind the scenes supplying disaster operations with necessary material Familiarity with proper moving, lifting, and storing of material Good organizational skills, responsible and punctual. Ability to actively listen. Ability to implement Standards and Procedures and follow associated job tools including reporting requirements.

Customer Focus: Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.

Action Oriented: Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.

Accurate and timely processing of 6455 (form) and use of sourcing mechanism. Procure supplies and open vendor accounts. Maintain vendor files. Work with Supply to research most cost effective and timely providers.

A hotline specialist volunteer will assist in answering the phone lines for those survivors as well as agency business calls. These special individuals will be trained to answer crisis calls and handle them according to the clients needs. We will equip you with the tools necessary to screen calls in a conversation style rather than a checklist form, give out resources whether within our organization or outside, transfer calls to the proper department amongst other things to properly handle this particular population of people. A hotline specialist must be patient, empathetic, poses good communication skills, and most importantly be an effective and active listener. All calls no matter the person on the other end needs to be greeted with a smile and treated with courtesy, respect, and dignity.  To apply for this volunteer position we simply need you to fill out an application, and register for orientation. Community-Based: Our most organic programming option allows for children and adults to enjoy any activities approved by the child’s guardian and BBBS. 

In the current reality, BBBS is creating and sustaining virtual mentor-mentee matches to create a critical human connection when our children need it the most. 

Matched with Little between 7-14 years of age for a year. Mentors and their match enjoy activities together for at least 4 hours or for 2-4 outings each month, temporarily in a virtual environment. Matched with a child within a 20-minute drive from your home or work. Ongoing support by a professional BBBS Match Support. Mentors may participate as an individual, couple, or family.
