Reality Check is an interactive budgeting and cost of living exercise for high school seniors that will help build their financial literacy, which impacts their overall health and well-being. Students will be given a randomized career, income, and family scenario, and must visit over 20 booths to determine their budget for the month. Booths include rent/mortgage, groceries, childcare, car notes, insurance, and all of the other “extras” that they need to budget for once they are financially independent.
Once all volunteers are registered and assigned to booths, detailed instructions for the assigned booths will be sent out prior to the event. You do not have to be an expert to work at any of the booths, but personal experience is always a valued perspective for students.
