Seeds of Promise Garden Sunshades

Help us grow more food—and hope—for Baytown! The Seeds of Promise Community Garden needs volunteers to build and install PVC pipe shade frames over 16 raised garden beds at the Fred Aguilar Promise Center. These small sunshades will protect plants (and volunteers!) from Texas heat, helping to double the harvest of fresh, organic vegetables donated to Hearts & Hands of Baytown and shared with families in need.

Where: Fred Aguilar Promise Center, 1724 ½ Market St, Baytown, TX

No experience necessary—this project is safe and easy for all ages, even teens. Volunteers will measure, cut, and assemble PVC pipe arches, secure them with conduit, and attach shade cloth to complete the structures.
