Who We Are

The YMCA of Greater Houston is a not-for-profit community service organization established in 1886 to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The mission seeks to promote core values by focusing on empowering youth, healthy families, and inclusion communities. We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our children, our health, and our neighbors. Our goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

What We Do

United Way of the Greater Baytown Area & Chambers County grant funding supports families by providing financial assistance scholarships to increase equal access to childcare/out-of-school-time care for underserved youth.

Baytown/Chambers County Programs: YMCA Afterschool and YMCA Summer Day Camp

The YMCA of Greater Houston serves more than 700,000 individuals annually at Y locations (20+ Centers, one residential camp, 200+ licensed childcare sites, and apartment outreach centers) throughout an 11-county service area in Southeast Texas.  Available programs include youth sports, STEM afterschool programs, summer day camps, swim lessons, Y Teen L.I.F.E., apartment outreach, food distribution, senior adult programming, and international services programs that support refugees and victims of human trafficking by offering refugee resettlement, employment, job training, social adjustment, and legal services.
